In Neal Stephenson's novel Cryptonomicon the Unterseeboot 234 (U-234) is a submarine in the North Atlantic bound for Tokyo which is transporting 1200 pounds of uranium oxide.
U-234 is also a rare isotope of uranium, natural uranium consists of about 0.006% U-234. Most natural uranium is U-238 (99.3%) and the rest is U-235.
